(First published Tai Chi Newsletter March 2024)

Tai Chi is a fantastic mind and body exercise that is a key component of health and wellness. It seems that almost every month there is another news item telling of the latest research that shows how beneficial it is. However it is only beneficial if you actually practice regularly. Please do take care of yourself and make sure that regular practice is what you do.

There is evidence that suggests Tai Chi can be beneficial if you have:
⦿ High blood pressure
⦿ Heart disease
⦿ Aches and pains, including some types of arthritis
⦿ Depression
⦿ Anxiety
⦿ Stress

However that leaves out that Tai Chi is also often recommended (by medical professionals) for people with almost any illness or condition, including things as varied as short term rehabilitation from sports injuries through to coping with recovery from chemotherapy and for sufferers of conditions like Fibromyalgia.

Of course, it's not magic, and there are some conditions and some people who will not benefit. But my standard advice is - assuming your doctor is OK with you practicing - give it a go, you may be amazed by the benefits it brings.

If you have any questions about any aspect of Tai Chi you can contact us by phone, however, we block calls from unlisted numbers, so if your phone does not identify itself then please contact us  via email. Of course, if you include your phone number, we will call you.
